While I prepped the house, JD spent most of the da While I prepped the house, JD spent most of the day roasting these beautiful birds from @goldenapplefamilyfarm. 🦃🍗 A 13-lb turkey and the biggest chicken I’ve ever seen at a whopping 9 lbs! We recently converted our first-floor guest room i We recently converted our first-floor guest room into a cozy den. The wall between this room and the kitchen will come down someday to make an open living space. For now, it’s a perfect spot to relax and watch TV. This beautiful antique rug is from our local friend and antique rug/art dealer @kenney1344. I just love the charm of worn, tattered rugs with no straight edges—each imperfection tells a story. Shelburne Orchards is incredible! We took a tracto Shelburne Orchards is incredible! We took a tractor ride to pick our own apples. Then we had yummy All Star tacos, cider donuts, and cider. A perfect way to spend an hour with me and my girl!

We have a gazillion projects and JD spent most of We have a gazillion projects and JD spent most of the weekend building this gate for our dog. She was just spayed and needs to stay out of trouble for 10 days. 4 more days to go. 🤣 🤪 But now she can go outside to the deck when she wants!

I just met an antique rug collector/dealer right h I just met an antique rug collector/dealer right here in Charlotte! I was so thrilled. He had a few that were really very worn so he gave us an amazing deal on them. IMHO, the more worn the better! This one will be reserved for special occasions on our dining table. Does anyone else think an antique rug on a table is totally normal? My grandmother often used a rug as a table cloth. So when the dealer suggested it, I was sold. ❤️
Anyone else have an old staircase? Ours is enclose Anyone else have an old staircase? Ours is enclosed in the middle of our house. They’re very narrow and very steep. 😳 The treads are narrow as well so (except for Bryn) we all must side step each stair as our feet are too long (see all the scuff marks on the risers to see how many feet have beat up this staircase over hundreds of years). This should be the first major renovation we’ll tackle as everything else will fall into place around it. Do we move the stairs to a completely new location? Do we widen and lengthen the space? All things were considering. The location of timber frame beams will help determine some of that. JD pulled out a smoke detector to put a camera into the space above the ceiling. It was like microscopic surgery! It looks like massive beams run from the front of the house all the way to the back. That will make it much easier to decide what to do. But I think he’ll have to pull apart more walls to really know for sure. … Ah, this staircase really is depressing. It doesn’t help that we haven’t painted any of it yet. 🤪 … And there are two doors to access the stairs. I’m standing in one door and you can see the other one to the left is closed. Old houses are so weird.
